If you have been keeping up with this blog at all you know by now that I am somewhat obsessed with unusually large plant material; well here is a great example.  I have been driving past these for years and finally got out and took some pictures of them.  These are the largest freestanding Taxus I have ever seen.  I pray they don’t decide they’re too big and cut them down.

  1. Plants of this size grow over decades. Popular landscaping uses much smaller specimens because of cost. My own garden would be more pleasing to most if I took out the giant boxwoods and camellias and towering junipers that grew here for 50 years, but they are precious to me because of their history.

Over in Grady County, GA there is a nursery that has an outlying parcel filled with the largest specimen plants I ever saw. Awe-inspiring.
